1. The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan

Inspired from the allegorical elements of Spenser's Faerie Queen, Bunyan wrote one himself showing the allegorical aspects of a Christian life. The lead protagonist is a guy named Christian who is an everyday character and the poem itself is differentiated using simple text. The poem promotes the concept of personal salvation through sacrifices.

2. Paradise Lost by John Milton

Seventy years after the Faerie Queen came out, John Milton also produced another epic which was named Paradise Lost. This secured his position as one of the finest poets of the country. This poem was written some years after Milton had gone blind. More than ten thousand lines in length, this poem covers the fall of man in a biblical sense. It was an achievement in all its sense since the entirety of the poem was dictated by Milton due to his blind state.
